UNDERSTANDING THE TECHNOLOGY

The Science Behind Whole Body Vibration

Vibrahealth products use two established technologies—Whole Body Vertical Vibration (WBVV) and Whole Body Periodic Acceleration (WBPA). Both technologies have been studied for decades and are used in sports science, active ageing, and general wellness settings worldwide.
This page explains how they work, what the research shows, and who they’re suitable for.

Two Technologies, One Goal

Both WBVV and WBPA help your body move passively—without requiring physical effort from you. They achieve this through different types of gentle, controlled motion.

TECHNOLOGY 1

Whole Body Vertical Vibration (WBVV)

Whole Body Vertical Vibration (WBVV) is a passive exercise method that gently oscillates the body in a controlled up-and-down motion while the user sits or stands on a vibrating platform.

How It Works:

When you sit or stand on WBVV equipment, the platform beneath you vibrates at controlled frequencies—typically between 3 and 16 Hz (up to 110 Hz in our dual-core BR2 model). These vibrations travel through your body, causing your muscles to contract and relax rapidly and automatically.

This happens without conscious effort from you. Your body responds naturally to the vibration stimulus, engaging muscles throughout your lower body, core, and beyond.

What Happens in the Body

  • Muscle Activation: Vibrations trigger involuntary muscle contractions—similar to how muscles respond during movement, but without requiring you to move.
  • Circulation Support: The rhythmic muscle activity helps support blood flow, particularly in the lower limbs where circulation can be sluggish during prolonged sitting.
  • Proprioceptive Stimulation: The vibrations stimulate sensory receptors in muscles and joints, which may help maintain neuromuscular function.

Who It's For

WBVV is particularly suited for people who:

• Have difficulty with traditional exercise
• Spend long periods sitting
• Want to maintain muscle engagement with minimal effort
• Are recovering from injury or illness (consult healthcare provider)
• Are older adults seeking gentle movement options
If you are a clinic or facility, you can partner with us to bring WBVV to your facility.

TECHNOLOGY 2

Whole Body Periodic Acceleration (WBPA)

Whole Body Periodic Acceleration (WBPA) is a passive movement technology that gently rocks the body in a horizontal head-to-toe motion while the user lies down on a specialised platform.

How It Works:

When you lie on WBPA equipment, the platform moves in a smooth, rhythmic horizontal motion—gently rocking you from head to toe. This motion is similar to the natural acceleration forces your body experiences during walking, but delivered while you rest completely.

What Happens in the Body

  • Vascular Response: The periodic acceleration is associated with supporting the release of nitric oxide from blood vessel walls, which helps maintain vascular function.
  • Blood Flow Support: The gentle motion helps move blood through the body, supporting circulation without requiring the heart to work harder.
  • Relaxation Response: Many users report deep relaxation during WBPA sessions, due to the calming, rhythmic motion.

Available In

  • uBed (WBPA + WBVV + 5-stage folding)
  • uChair BH2 (WBVV + WBPA in a chair)
  • uSofa DL1 and DL1-S (WBVV + WBPA in sofa form)

Who It's For

  • People who prefer lying down or find sitting uncomfortable
  • Those who are bedridden or severely deconditioned
  • Anyone seeking gentle support for circulation while at rest
  • Those with sleep quality concerns (especially BH2’s pre-sleep mode)

TURTLEGYM TECHNOLOGY

Isokinetic Muscle Training

Isokinetic training is a method where movement speed remains constant while resistance automatically adapts to the user’s force output. Unlike traditional weight machines, the harder you push, the more resistance you feel—but you can never overexert.

Why It Matters for Elderly Users

Traditional gym equipment poses risks for elderly users: fixed weights can cause strain, sudden movements can lead to injury, and stopping mid-exercise requires assistance. Isokinetic equipment eliminates these risks.
Turtlegym isokinetic training machine for elderly rehabilitation

How It Works:

Turtlegym machines use electronically controlled cylinders to maintain constant speed regardless of how much force the user applies. This means:
  • A weak user pushing gently receives gentle resistance
  • A stronger user pushing harder receives proportionally more resistance
  • Users can stop at any point simply by reducing effort
  • No weights to drop, no sudden movements, no risk of overexertion

Where It Is Used:

Used in senior fitness facilities, day care centres, hospital wellness programmes, and eldercare centres. Adopted across 500+ facilities in Japan for age-appropriate movement support.

Equipment:

Turtlegym offers 9 isokinetic machines targeting upper body, lower body, and trunk. Space-saving 2-in-1 and 4-in-1 models are available for facilities with limited floor space–such as active aging centres and senior care centres.

Science & Technology Questions

Q1: What's the difference between WBVV and WBPA?
WBVV (Whole Body Vertical Vibration) moves your body in an up-and-down oscillation while you sit or stand. It’s more stimulating and focuses on muscle activation. WBPA (Whole Body Periodic Acceleration) moves your body in a horizontal head-to-toe motion while you lie down. It’s more relaxing and focuses on circulation support. Both are passive—you don’t need to do anything except sit or lie on the equipment.
Q2: Is whole body vibration the same as using a vibration plate at the gym?
Not quite. Gym vibration plates typically require you to stand and engage your muscles actively, often using more intense vibrations. BGREEN sport furniture is designed for passive use—you sit or lie comfortably while the equipment does the work. The vibrations are gentler, and the experience is more relaxing than a typical gym vibration plate.

Q3: Is there scientific evidence for whole body vibration?
Yes, whole body vibration has been studied extensively, with research published in peer-reviewed journals. Studies have examined applications in muscle strength, circulation, balance, rehabilitation, and more. However, research findings vary, and the technology continues to be investigated. We recommend consulting scientific databases like PubMed for current literature. We do not make specific medical claims about our products.

Q4: Is BGREEN equipment a medical device?
No. BGREEN sport furniture is wellness equipment designed for general fitness and relaxation. It is not a medical device and is not intended to diagnose, treat, cure, or prevent any disease or medical condition. If you have health concerns, consult a qualified healthcare professional.

Q5: How does the vibration intensity compare to other equipment?
BGREEN equipment uses gentle, controlled vibrations—typically between 5 and 30 Hz for WBVV, and 1 to 3 Hz for WBPA. These are relatively low frequencies designed for comfort and safety. The intensity is much gentler than industrial equipment or high-powered gym machines. Most people find the sensation pleasant and easy to get used to.
